Members & roles

Adding members and assigning roles is done by clinic administrators.

The roles

Role	Who they are	What they can do
Clinic administrator	The clinic's manager	Manage members and the assistant's settings, plus everything a caseworker can do.
Caseworker / volunteer	Front-line staff	Read records, add notes, change status, upload documents, export, and hand off.

Adding members

A clinic administrator adds members from the organization settings: enter the person's email, choose a role, and add them.

Caseworkers and administrators are added by invitation. If the email already belongs to a Parity account, the person becomes a member immediately. Otherwise Parity records a pending invitation and emails them an invite — it is applied automatically when they sign in at the Staff Portal, and they land straight in the dashboard.
Pending invites are listed in the organization settings, where an administrator can revoke one before it is used. An invitation expires after 7 days; re-inviting the same email refreshes the expiry.
Clients are not invited by email — they join by signing in through the clinic's chat link and completing onboarding. Adding an email with the client role only works if that person already has an account.

Inviting someone who is already a member updates their role — for example, promoting an existing client to caseworker.

Existing members are listed with their role, which an administrator can change inline, or remove them. If someone signs in at the Staff Portal before being invited, they see an "Almost there" screen until an administrator has invited that email.

You cannot remove yourself from the clinic or change your own role — those controls are disabled for your own membership. You manage other members normally, but another administrator must change your membership.
